It’s Just a Day

Some days you catch yourself sad for no reason. Every useless memory from long ago bugs you all over, despite the fact it shouldn’t even matter anymore—it’s just an irrelevant little pain point. Which still leaves you cringeing or wanting to cry.

Does your life sometimes feel like a scene straight out of a movie? Take Cecile Ahern in P.S I love you:

“She was a woman who made mistakes, who sometimes cried on a Monday morning or at night alone in bed. She was a woman who often became bored with her life and found it hard to get up for work in the morning. She was a woman who, more often than not, had a bad hair day, who looked in the mirror and wondered why she couldn't just drag herself to the gym more often; she was a woman who sometimes questioned what reason had she to live on this planet. She was a woman who sometimes just got things wrong. On the other hand, she was a woman with a million happy memories, who knew what it was like to experience true love and who was ready to experience more life more love and make new memories”.

She knew what it was like to have those days! We felt every word while wanting to scream, ‘Sister, Preach!’

Perhaps it’s song lyrics that tell your story. Cue Pink on repeat! Music takes you back to yesteryear. With people you held dear and moments that still have the power to make you smile. Then there are the other memories of tears searing down your face as you ugly cried while your heart was breaking.

Maybe the past reminds you that here you are meant to be living your best life, yet you're still wondering when the good part starts?

Here's the Hot Tip: every single one of us sometimes feels this way! You're not alone.

Imagine if we could only see our story rolling out on the big screen! If we could see the beginning, middle and end. Suppose we could mute the sound when our fears feel as though they will capsize us. Being able to anticipate a sequel after our personal cliffhanger experiences- maybe life would be easier to bear! Perhaps life wouldn't feel so heavy and uncomfortable at times!

The thing is, we can't pause, rewind, fast forward or stop our life story from unfolding. We don't get do-overs with the parts of our journeys we would like to erase. Often there are no second chances. Each of us has just one shot.

The beauty, though? When we are met face to face with aspects of ourselves we don't like- we can choose to change. We can sit with our painful past and heal from the things that hurt us. We are gifted a choice to pick up the pieces of our broken hearts and promise to love ourselves enough to piece our lives back together.

Are you ready? This is the part where life gets exciting!

We can reinforce our foundations with self-respect, compassion, and grace. As we rebuild our hopes and dreams with clarified values, beliefs and understanding. Being anchored through faith, believing we have what it takes—knowing that we deserve so much more. Though the rain will fall sometimes, we will rise!

You don't have to carry around your yesterdays like some cheap, meaningless participation trophy! Your life holds meaning! Yes! There is purpose attached to even the most painful parts! You might not be able to see it now- but it's there. It's time to lay down that baggage!

It's your time to shine! It's a new day! You my friend are NOT what has happened to you.  You don't need to keep focusing on the rear view mirror. It’s time to attach new meaning to yesterdays stories.
